Dear Reader,

Welcome to Trojan Health Connection, USC’s pre-health newspaper.

Our goal is to connect you to USC’s pre-health community, inhabited by a vibrant population of aspiring health professionals and the educators and faculty who support them.

Through the articles we publish, we strive to provide you with all the information you may need as a pre-health student at USC.

Need advice on how to find research? Seeking pre-health organizations to join or summer internships to apply to? Want to stay updated on health-related events happening on campus? Peruse our website and check out our print publicationsto stay informed.

We encourage your decision to pursue a career in health because we believe in the nobility of your chosen profession. Whether you become a doctor, dentist, nurse or pharmacist, you will help improve the quality of people’s lives.

Thus, we strive to give you every chance to succeed by providing accurate and informative stories about all the health-related opportunities you have at USC and in the Greater Los Angeles Area.

Who we are

Founded in May 2010, Trojan Health Connection is a student-run pre-health newspaper with a dedicated staff of over 50 editors, managers, writers and photographers.

Gina Camello, Associate Director of the Pre-Health Advisement Office, serves as our advisor.

We strive to report accurate information in an objective and professional manner by adhering to the style of journalism.

Our Executive Board has nine editors with 30 years of combined journalism experience that proofreads every article published. Through writer’s workshops and one-on-one sessions, our editors work closely with our staff writers to teach them how to think and write like journalists.

Our articles are not only credible, but also written by fellow Trojans like you that aspire to become health professionals.

With your support, we hope to have our print publications available to you every month and have weekly web updates on our website.

Acknowledgements

When the two of us founded Trojan Health Connection in Spring 2010, our goal was to become an online publication by Fall 2010 and to produce a print publication by Spring 2011.

We are proud to say that we have successfully met both of these goals.

To the staff of Trojan Health Connection, to our friends at the Daily Trojan Mona, Kate, and Lucy, to our advisors Gina, Kim and Joe, and to all of you who have picked up a copy of our first issue, thank you so much for your encouragement and support.
